Obituary for John M. Minutaglio

John Minutaglio, of Armonk, NY, died peacefully at his home on June 21, 2013. He was born to the late Francis and Tessie Minutaglio October 29, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY.
John graduated from Archbishop Molloy High School where he became an NYC Champion and still holds the school record for the 50 yard dash. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University. John married Sue Ann Hutchinson in 1977 on City Island, Bronx, where they resided until their move to Armonk in 1984. Together they raised three extraordinary children.
John, also known as John Mini, was the president and owner of John Mini Distinctive Landscapes of Congers, NY. He took great pride in growing the business, along with the help of family, a valued partner and excellent employees, into one of the most notable landscaping companies in the nation.
John lived outdoors. He loved fly-fishing, especially in New Zealand, biking, golfing and summer weeks at the beach on Nantucket. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, yoga, writing, and the music scene. He liked to read the New York Times over a morning espresso out on his deck. John lived with passion and humor; he was always up for a good joke, and loved planning parties to bring family and good friends together.
He was a die-hard New York fan, especially for his Yankees. But more than anything, he enjoyed rooting for his children; he spent countless years at tracks, baseball fields, and basketball courts. He coached his sons' little league teams to several championships.
John is survived by his wife Sue Ann, their three children: Jessica Minutaglio and her partner Benjamin Roberts, of Minneapolis; John Minutaglio and his wife Pooja of Toronto; and Mark Minutaglio and his fiancé Julia Lange of New York, and their beloved dog Maddie of Armonk. He is predeceased by his brother Thomas Minutaglio of Forest Hills and survived by three brothers: Frank Minutaglio of Lynbrook; William Minutaglio of Austin; and Robert Minutaglio of Naples. He is also survived by loving in-laws: the Hutchinson, Spellman, Martin, and Kody families, nieces, nephews and an extended family of lifelong friends. The family will receive friends on Friday June 28, from 3-7 PM and on Saturday June 29 from 2-4 PM with a service beginning at 3 PM at the Beecher Flooks Funeral Home 418 Bedford Road in Pleasantville.
