Obituary for Angela Santa Fulgenzi (DeStefano)

Angela Santa Fulgenzi of Hawthorne, New York passed away peacefully at her home on March 3, 2014, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Angela, or Anne, as she was known, was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Salvatore and Sebastiana (Mule) DeStefano on November 3, 1927. She graduated from Girls Commercial High School in Brooklyn, where she was active in the Performing Arts, and attended Brooklyn College. On April 30, 1950, she married Edward Fulgenzi, Sr., who pre-deceased her in 2009.

Regardless of what she did in life, her primary focus and mission was the health and happiness of her family. Her generosity, intellect and quick wit were exceeded only by the love she demonstrated to her family each and every day. It knew no bounds. And, as she brought her family together throughout life, she has done so once again with her passing. She will be sorely missed.

Anne is survived by her loving children: Anne Burruano (Sam); Edward, Jr. (Madelaine); Marianne Fulgenzi (Leslie) and Stephanie Pellegrino (Frank). She is also survived by a grand-daughter, Joanna Nicoletti (Rob). During the last 5 years of her life, she was cared for by her aide and companion Nino Maracenko, who was with her until the end.

The family will receive friends at the Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville, NY on Thursday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Rosary R.C. Church in Hawthorne on Friday at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
