Jane Rushneck, a lifelong resident of Thornwood passed away peacefully in her home on March 16, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 85. Jane was born on November 9, 1928 in Mount Vernon, New York to the late Albert and Irma Russell Coroen and graduated from Pleasantville High School. Jane attended White Plains Hospital Nursing School and upon graduation worked as a nurse at that hospital. On November 11, 1948 she married the love of her life Ronald Rushneck and in 1958 they moved to Thornwood to raise their family.

Jane is survived by her two sons Ronald (Valorie) of Naples, Florida, Gary (Karen) of Mahopac, New York and her daughter Susan Spano (Jimmy) of Briarcliff, New York as well as her grandchildren, Ronnie, Krista, Gary, Jimmy, Steven, Bryan, Alexa, Tucker, Erika, three great grandchildren and her loving sister, Pam Bartlett (Stephen). Jane was predeceased by her loving husband, Ronald (Sonny) in 2009, her beloved grandson Randy in 2013 and her sister Betty Verille.

Jane devoted her life to her family and church and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawthorne where she served on the Altar Guild for many years. She was also a member of the Thornwood Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her husband and grandchildren at their upstate home in Chatham, New York. She will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Donna Newell, Jane’s caretaker and companion for the last four years. We are forever grateful that she was brought into our lives.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 3pm to 9pm at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville, NY. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawthorne, NY at 10:15am. Interment to follow at Kensico Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jane’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 2900 Westchester Avenue, Purchase, NY 10577.
