Obituary for Buddy Sinnott

Buddy Sinnott
Edmund T. Sinnott “Bud” of Ossining, NY passed away on July 14, 2014. Born in Manhattan NY, he was the son of Edmund and Naomi Sinnott. Bud was raised in Ossining NY, attended Archbishop Stepinac H.S. and graduated from Ossining High School 1963. In September 1964 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam from 1966 – 1967. He received a meritorious combat promotion to Sgt. while serving on the battlefields of Vietnam. His Marine service ended in 1968 but his dedication to his fellow Marines and pride in having served his country, remained with him for the rest of his life. In 1969 he became a police officer and retired from the Croton Police Department in 1990. After retiring from the Police Department he spent three years in Bradenton, Florida where he was employed by the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Long Boat Key Golf Club. His favorite part time hobby was playing golf. He always said the military was so instilled in him that he even played “Military Golf” - left, right, left, right. He thought he was a good player but his buddies would disagree. In 1998, after returning to Westchester County from Florida, Bud married Vera Zypnyk who passed away in 2001. Bud also worked part time for 15 years with Croton-Harmon Schools Transportation Department as a bus driver. He loved those little kids and all the silly things they said and did. He always had one of those “Kids Say the Darndest Things” stories to tell at the end of the week. He was loved by all the kids and their parents. Bud was a loyal friend, had a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor. He will be missed by many. He is survived by daughters Sharon Sinnott of Cartersville, GA and Lauren Sidoti of Pleasant Valley, NY who blessed him with two grandsons Ryan and Scott Sidoti. Bud’s wife Vera, his parents Edmund and Naomi, his sister Patricia Spring and brother Richard all predeceased him. The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to all of Bud’s friends at the Croton Police Department and the Croton Harmon Bus Garage for all they have done to help care for him these past few months. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 24th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home 418 Bedford Road Pleasantville, NY, 10570 and services will be held on Friday, July 25th at 10:30am at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Hawkes Avenue, Ossining, NY.
