She had been living with her daughter and son-in-law, Marion and John Gallas, since March 2012. Virginia was born in New York City and grew up in Mamaroneck, NY before her mother, aunt (also Ginny), and she moved to White Plains, NY. She worked in White Plains as a secretary for prominent appraiser, Harry K. Keller for many years. Later, she loved working at Altman's Department Store until it closed its doors in the 1980's. She moved to Pleasantville, NY in 1986 when she married Herbert Tichenor who pre-deceased her in 1995. She continued living in her beloved Pleasantville where she had many friends and neighbors whose lives she touched. Everyone remarked of her piercing blue eyes which were accompanied by an infectious smile. She was well loved by her family and friends. Virginia was pre-deceased by her daughter, Marylin Taylor Visconti and her son, Frederick Taylor. She is survived by her daughter, Marion Gallas, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. A memorial visitation will be held at Beecher Funeral Home in Pleasantville on Friday Dec. 12 from 6 to 8 pm. A service will be held at Kensico Cemetery Chapel in Valhalla, NY by her stepson, Rev. Jay Tichenor, on Dec. 13 at 2 pm with interment immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ASPCA.
