Obituary for David T. Murden

David T. Murden, 87 of Pleasantville, NY, passed away January 1, 2015. He was born September 1, 1927 in Mt. Vernon, NY to his parents Sheldon K. and Viola (Taylor) Murden. David was a World War II veteran and drummer with the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corp. in Mt. Vernon where he met his wife of 63 years, Ruth (Bicknese) Murden. In 1969 he moved to Pleasantville where he resided and raised his family. He worked as a storekeeper at Westchester Community College until his retirement. David enjoyed woodworking and carpentry and often built sets and props for the Mount Pleasant Community Theatre.
David is survived by his wife Ruth, Daughter Carolyn DePalma of Tennessee, Son Richard (Gabriela) Murden of Pleasantville and Grandson Jordan DePalma of Vermont. He is predeceased by his daughter Jane Marie and his sister Jeanne Perry of Hazlet, NJ.
Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 PM at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, Inc., Pleasantville where funeral services will be held Monday 10AM. Interment following at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers donations to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10532 would be appreciated.
