The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Barbara Bertaccini can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: In September of 1987, Mrs. Bertaccinni hired me to teach English in the Freeport H.S. English Dept. Although she retired two years later, she had a profound effect on my career and me as a person. She moved me into the Honors program in my second year, despite railings from some of our colleagues. Barbara was incredibly well read and in total command of her subject area. I retired two years ago and had a wonderful career. Looking back, there is no question that her fingerprints were all over my teachings.
