Condolence: In September of 1987, Mrs. Bertaccinni hired me to teach English in the Freeport H.S. English Dept. Although she retired two years later, she had a profound effect on my career and me as a person. She moved me into the Honors program in my second year, despite railings from some of our colleagues. Barbara was incredibly well read and in total command of her subject area. I retired two years ago and had a wonderful career.
