Obituary for Francis X. Keane

Francis X. Keane
Francis Xavier Keane, of Valhalla, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 23, 2016. He was 46. Fran (“Frank” as many called him) was born in Yonkers, NY on November 14, 1969, the 8th child of John Vincent Keane and Mary Frances (Prial) Keane, both of whom predeceased him. He grew up in the Park Hill section of Yonkers where he had a paper route and played Little League baseball. He attended St. Denis Elementary School and Sacred Heart High School. At age 19 he took over the family convenience store in Riverdale and following in his father’s footsteps, ran a successful shop there for over 10 years. He then worked as a package delivery driver for UPS, bought a home and settled in Valhalla, NY.

Frank had a knack for making friends. He was an unforgettable larger than life character who brought laughter and joy to all who knew him. He was a truly kind man and his zest for life, quick wit and generosity of spirit were unmatched. He especially loved (and was loved by) children of all ages and animals such as his “adopted" dog Killian. He was particularly devoted to his mother, Mary, who passed last year. Frank braved life’s curveballs with courage and dignity and always without complaint. He is survived and will be missed dearly by his eight siblings: Elaine, Marykay (Patric), Tom (Susan), John (Julie), Paul (Debra), Tim (Cathy), Dennis and Chris (Christina); his eleven beloved nieces and nephews: Elizabeth, Megan, Katie, Logan, Maddie, Isabel, Mary Kate, Molly, Matthew, Tommy and Emma; and an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, Godchildren, neighbors and good friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 29th at 11 a.m. at the Church of Saint John and Saint Mary, 30 Poillon Drive, Chappaqua, NY 10514. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 28th from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, 418 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, NY 10570.
