Obituary for Marc Lewis McEntee

Marc Lewis McEntee, of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, died May 20, 2016 at the age of 54 in a tragic bicycling accident in Hesston, PA.

He is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy, son Shaun, daughter Melissa, and his parents, Marcia and Harry “Bud” McEntee of Poughquag, NY. Marc was a cherished son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and nephew of a large extended family, with too many friends to count.

Marc was born November 17, 1961 in Patterson, NJ. He attended Roy C. Ketcham High School in Dutchess County, NY and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He enjoyed working for the past 24 years as a test engineer at Consumer Reports in Yonkers, NY.

Marc was a devoted husband and father. On June 3, 1995, he married the love of his life, Dorothy. On November 18, 1996 and September 6, 1999 respectively, he welcomed his two beautiful children Shaun and Melissa. Marc's wife and children were his foundation. His dedication and commitment to them could be witnessed daily.

Marc was naturally inquisitive and adept with all things mechanical. He loved everything on wheels – bicycles, cars, and motorcycles. Marc was an avid cyclist with a passion for the outdoors including hiking, backpacking, surfing, kayaking, and even skydiving. He was "adventure" personified, and his love of life was contagious. Marc's successful career as a mechanical engineer was a testament to his intellect which was exemplified by his witty sense of humor. Marc's laugh was as contagious as his love for life!

His family, friends, and the community of Croton-on-Hudson were and are all beneficiaries of his inspiring energy, his passion for learning and for setting the example of living life to the fullest. Marc was an active member of the community, dedicating his time to coaching many youth athletic programs, such as soccer, baseball, and lacrosse. Marc was very proud to be a founding board member of Croton Youth Lacrosse.

Marc's death has taken him from all that loved and admired him much too soon, but his legacy will live on in those very same people. Marc will be deeply missed and his life will forever be celebrated.

Visitation hours are Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 6pm to 9pm. A celebration of life service will take place on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 4pm. Both will be held at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, 418 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, NY 10570. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers it is suggested that donations be made to Croton Youth Lacrosse or
Westchester Mountain Biking Association (wmba.org).
