Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Louis Centi can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Louis L. Centi Sr.

Louis L. Centi, Sr., lifelong resident of Valhalla, NY, died on August 13, 2016. Born on May 4, 1922 to Filomena and Bernardo Centi. He is survived by his devoted children, Louis L. Centi, Jr. (Mary Jane), Laura-Ellen Centi (Dennis) and his devoted sister Rose Nancy Centi. His parents and his sister, Mary Rose Centi predeceased him.
He proudly served in the US Marine Corps, 4th Division, Company F, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines during WWII. He was in the first wave of invasions on Iwo Jima, Saipan, Tinian, and the Marshall Islands and was awarded the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
He was the proprietor of Valhalla Cleaners, Valhalla Taxi and Louis L. Centi Bus Company.
At his request there will be no wake or gathering after the funeral services.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Queen of Peace Chapel, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY on Wednesday August 17, 2016 at 10 AM, with entombment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or SPCA of Westchester, Briarcliff Manor, NY, in his memory would be appreciated.
