Obituary for Palma Zanzarella

Palma (Pam) Zanzarella nee Male

Pam was born in Yonkers on May 19, 1921 to Fred and Anna Male.

She married the love of her life, John Zanzarella Sr., on October 4th 1942. They were married for more than 65 years until John’s passing.

Pam was the proud and loving mother of 3 children – John Jr., Stephen and Marianne and loved their respective spouses: Karen, Sue and Michael, as if they were her own. She cherished her grandchildren - Nicol, John, Lisa and Francesca.

She was also an avid reader and instilled the love of books in her children. Pam made sure her kids were well educated, well fed and well dressed.

Pam was ahead of her time. She was a pioneering woman, who owned and ran an Insurance Business in the day, when it was more common for women to be homemakers. She was successful at both making sure everyone was at the dinner table each night for a meal she cooked from scratch.

She was involved with the Church and PTA at St Casmir’s School in Yonkers and enjoyed going on retreat. She also enjoyed bargain shopping, weekly visits to the Beauty Salon and her retirement years at the Jersey Shore.

Pam was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Grace O’Connell, and brother Frank Male.
