Obituary for Manuela Rodriguez (Varela)
Manuela Rodriguez (nee Varela), 93, of White Plains, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Waterview Hills Nursing Home. She was born in Lugo, Spain on April 27, 1923 to Manuel and Serafina Varela. Wife of the late Ricardo Rodriguez, Manuela is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Virginia (Frank) Martinez, granddaughter Melinda (Steven) White, and great-granddaughters, Christina and Alyssa White. Manuela is predeceased by her sisters, Carmen and Generosa of Lugo, Spain.
After emigrating to the United States in 1966, Manuela worked at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains for many years until her retirement upon which she traveled frequently with family and visited family and friends in her native Spain.
Visitation will be Friday 4-7 pm at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, Inc. Pleasantville. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville. Internment will follow at Kensico Cemetery in Hawthorne.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
