Obituary for Ignazio Fazio

Ignazio  Fazio
Ignazio Fazio, 86, of Elmsford, NY, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, December 26, 2016 at White Plains Hospital. He was born on November 23, 1930 in Manhattan, New York, to Carmelo and Concetta Fazio. In 1955, he married the love of his life Diane Radda, who predeceased him. He was a loving father to six children, Carmelo (Shamala), Frederick (Kay), Christina, Michael (Magdalena), Ignazio Jr. (Robyn), and Angelo (Karen). Brother to Joseph (Mary Ellen), brother-in-law to Ronald Radda (Lan), Olivia Foley (Thomas), Henry Radda (Tania), Theresa Fazio, Mary Fazio, and predeceased by his siblings, Angelo, Santa Scalzo (Frank), and Anthony. He was a proud grandfather to twenty-two grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ignazio worked as a union carpenter. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was an avid golfer who shot five hole in ones. Another favorite pastime was spending nights at the Italian American Club playing cards. His greatest joy in life was his family. He will be greatly missed.

A viewing will be held from 3:30-8 p.m. Friday at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, in Pleasantville. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Magdalene in Tarrytown. Interment will follow at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery, in Hawthorne.

In lieu of flowers,the family encourages donations be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005, in memory of Ignazio Fazio.
