Obituary for Sr. Mary Dorothy, O.P.

Sister Mary Dorothy Korbelak, OP (Edith M. Korbelak) died on March 9, 2017 at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, NY after an extended illness.

She was born May 2, 1929 in Bayonne, NJ. She was the daughter of George Korbelak and Anna (Soncha) Korbelak. She is pre-deceased by her parents, her brother George and her sister Georgianne and her brother-in-law William Balint.

She is survived by her sister Kathy (Bob) Ascough and many devoted nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who were very attentive to her.

Sister entered the Community on March 7, 1959 and made her Profession of Vows, on September 14, 1960. Sister graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Practical Nursing in Yonkers as an LPN prior to her entrance into our Community.

Sister Mary Dorothy served at five of our seven Homes.

A wake will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Rosary Hill Home from 3:30pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10:30am in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary at Rosary Hill Home followed by internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
