Obituary for Janet R. Pedlow (Rogan)

Janet Mary Pedlow passed away on April 4, 2018 in the Bronx, New York surrounded by family after a brief illness. She was 80 years old and resided in Chappaqua, New York. She was born in September 1937 in the Bronx, New York, the third of six children of the late George R. Rogan and Sarah M. (nee Cashman) Rogan. She graduated from Our Lady of Refuge School in the Bronx in 1951. She then graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary Park Terrace in Manhattan in 1955 and the College of Our Lady of the Elms, now known as Elms College, in Chicopee, Massachusetts in 1959. She earned a Master of Science in Education from the College of New Rochelle in 1975. For many summers in the late 1940s and through the 1950s, she attended Our Lady of Lourdes Camp in Livingston Manor, New York. After college, she worked for 34 years as a first grade public school teacher at P.S. 59 in the Bronx. In 1987, she married Harry J. Pedlow, Jr., M.D. who predeceased her. She is the loving step-mother to Harry J. III (Jennifer Benedict), Damiene (Mark Nelson), Nancie (Paul Gaj), Mark C. (Pamela), and William T. (Victoria). She is the adoring grandmother to Joy Pike (John), Randi and Annie Pedlow, Phoenix (Conor Dwyer) and Max Gaj (Perris), Maggie Fleming (Dylan), and William, Nicholas and Katherine Pedlow. She is the loving great-grandmother to Kayla, Gavin and Avery Pike and William and Emma Fleming. She is the dear sister of Sheila R. Raymond (George), Elizabeth R. Brennan, John H. Rogan (Janice) and Peter G. Rogan (Judith) and the dear sister-in-law of Leo M. Pedlow (Dorothy) and Marie Pedlow. She is also survived by many in-laws, and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Sarah Rogan, her sister, Anne R. McGrath (Terence), her sister-in-law, Loretta D. Rogan, and her brother-in-law, Thomas A. Brennan, Jr. and her brother-in-law, Francis X. Pedlow. The family will receive friends at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville, New York on Friday, April 6 from 2 – 4 PM & 7 – 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 7 at 10 AM at Holy Innocents R.C. Church, Pleasantville. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
