Obituary for Dorothy Nethercott (Cody)

Dorothy Ann Nethercott, 94 of Valhalla, NY, passed away peacefully on August 28th, 2018.
Dorothy was born in Bronx, New York to Walter and Dorothy (Sharp) Cody on July 26, 1924. She attended St. Anselm’s and Bronx Technical School in Bronx, NY. Later in life, she worked at Macy’s Department Store, Traveler’s Insurance, Avon, Alexander’s Department Store, and Beavis Industries.
On April 28, 1946, Dorothy married Clement J. Nethercott who predeceased her on August 20, 2000. She loved her family dearly and her family loved her. Dorothy’s kind heart and her devotion to helping others earned her the award of Westchester County Senior Citizen Hall of Fame Inductee for selfless service to the Pleasant Seniors of Mount Pleasant in 1996.
She is survived by her children, Arleen M. Norton, Gerald C. Nethercott (Carol), Terrence J. Nethercott (Diane), Doreen M. DeTurris (Salvatore), Denise M. Grogan (Thomas), and Diane M. Leber (William) along with 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Beecher Flooks Funeral home, 418 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, NY, 10570 on Friday, August 31st, 2018 from 4pm-7pm. The funeral mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 2 Broadway, Valhalla, NY, 10595 on Saturday, September 1st, 2018 at 10am. A burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Ave., Hawthorne, NY, 10532.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hancock Hall in Danbury, CT for the excellent care they provided to Dorothy during her stay there.
