Obituary for Dennis R. Vaccaro

Dennis R. Vaccaro, Sr., born on May 14, 1952 in Tarrytown, NY, to Jennie and Tony Vaccaro. He was raised in Ossining, attended St. Augustine’s Elementary School, Stepinac HS, and Bridgeport University. One of five children, his sister MaryAnn (Ray) Kelly, brothers Angelo, Joseph (Beverly), and Anthony (Claudia) all survive him.
Dennis married Barbara Francis and settled in Pleasantville to raise his family. He was involved in many civic organizations as well as a community volunteer. He was a member of AYSO, Dad’s Club (a past officer) the Pleasantville Scholarship Committee, Pleasantville School Improvement, and Pleasantville Rotary. He was employed for over 35 years as a project manager at L.J. Coppola Inc.
He was an avid sports fan and participant. He loved the NY Yankees and one of his most treasured moments was having dinner with Mickey Mantle. Dennis was the sole proprietor of the Sports Den Inc. One of his greatest joys was supporting his sons’ athletics, coaching all three of them from a young age and volunteering as the statistician for the Pleasantville High School Football team.
He was a participant of Holy Innocents Church and a member of Pleasantville Country Club where he shared his love for the game of golf with his close friends. A hard working, dedicated family man, Dennis devoted his life to being a great father, husband, brother, and loyal friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his three sons, Dennis, Jr. Robert, and Nicholas whom he was always so proud of. In addition, surviving him are his three Godsons, John Kelly, Colin Weldon and Neil Abbatiello who he was so honored to be their Godfather.
Visiting hours Monday & Tuesday 3-7 PM at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, Inc., Pleasantville, NY, Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday 11AM, Holy Innocents Church, Pleasantville, NY. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Pleasantville School District Scholarship Fund in his name.
