Obituary for Stella T. Oakley

Stella T. Oakley
OAKLEY, STELLA

Devoted wife of Richard and mother of six children, Stella Catherine Oakley died on January 30, 2017 at the age of 94. Stella was happily married to her husband (who predeceased her in 2013) and together they had six daughters: Loretta Wallace, Eileen Bradley, Allison Place, Diane Nell, Roberta Oakley and Suzanne Oakley. Stella is survived by nine grandchildren: Karen, Jennifer, William, Brian, Garett, Marianne, Carly, Eric and Christopher; and six great grandchildren: Gabriel, Scarlett, Austin, David, Emily and Elise.

Stella was devoted to her family, all of whom share innumerable good memories of holiday celebrations, summers at Candlewood Lake, trips to musical events and her home-cooked meals. She was involved in her children's lives including Brownies, Girl Scouts and the PTA. Stella was an avid reader and passed her love of reading onto her children. She also enjoyed gardening and all types of flowers, particularly orchids.

She graduated from New York University in 1941. She received a degree in Business Administration from the University in three years and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi (AOP). Soon after marrying, she and Richard moved to Pleasantville. Before starting her family, she taught high school business classes. She also worked with her husband in his investment firms in Manhattan and Pleasantville.

Stella was a devoted communicant of Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville for over seventy years. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to Holy Innocents Church would be very much appreciated.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Innocents Church, Bedford Road, Pleasantville, New York on Friday, February 3rd at 11 AM.
