Thomas Charles Merritts
Thomas Charles Merritts passed away in the early morning of October 9, 2017. He lived in Garrison, NY for 45 years. He was a loving husband to Diane (Arbach) Merritts for 50 years. Together they had two children, Daniel an Jennifer. He was an extremely generous person giving all his love, time and efforts to his family, business and friends.

Mr. Merritts was born to John and Victoria Merritts on June 29, 1943. He grew up in The Bronx with his older brother, Johnny and his sister, Luann. They eventually moved to Hawthorne where Tom only lived for a short time before going into the Military during the Vietnam War.

He founded Thomas C. Merritts Land Surveyors in Pleasantville, NY. Tom worked side-by-side with his son, Daniel, for 20 years running a very successful, cutting edge survey business. Mr. Merritts was very respected by all who knew him and he was known for his integrity, kindness and selflessness. Tom was a quiet man, but when he spoke everyone stopped to listen. Often, Tom gave surveying advice to those in need of his expertise.

Tom Merritts is survived by his wife; children; sister, Luann; daughter-in-law, Jacqui; and son-in-law Keith; 7 grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins.
