Obituary for Robert F. Sarlo

Robert Frank Sarlo, Hawthorne resident, died March 2, 2018 at the age of 93. He was a resident of Hawthorne for all of his 93 years. Bob was born in New York City and was a graduate of Briarcliff High School. He worked for the Veterans Administration in Montrose, NY as Assistant Chief of Supply for 45 years. In 1962 he married his beloved wife, Agnes Murphy. Bob is survived by his son, Michael Sarlo of Marlton, NJ and his daughter, Laurie Baisley and husband, Brian of Washingtonville, NY, three grandchildren, Erica, Sal and Abbie, many nieces and nephews and a true friend and caregiver with the kindest heart imaginable, Toni Lara. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Sarlo and Nettie Harrison Sarlo and his brother Lorenz Sarlo. Bob was an army veteran, a sergeant in the 1084th Quartermaster Company of the 61st Air Service Group. He was a longtime member of the Church of Mary Magdalene in Pocantico Hills, the Sleepy Hollow Leisure Club and the American Legion. The family will receive friends at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home from 2-7 PM on Tuesday, March 6th. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 7th at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Magdalene. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
