Obituary for Leo Del Savio

Leo Del Savio, age 96, of Pleasantville, NY passed away on April 7, 2018. He was predeceased in 2011 by his beloved wife, Patricia Brennan Del Savio, and is survived by children Ray (Alice), Tom (Tammy Gardner), Rick, Angela (Mickey Schuler), Mary Alice (Joe Kopser), Rob (Michelle Reinstein), nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Leo was born in the Bronx in 1921 after his father, Domenico, who immigrated to America from Italy in 1913, was reunited with his wife Angela and their four children in 1919, after a separation of six years due to the outbreak of WWI. Leo was predeceased by four siblings (Gina, Lou, Johnny, and Joe). He attended Evander High School in the Bronx and served in the Army during WW II in France, cherishing the friendships he made there throughout his life. Leo and Pat were married in 1950, and raised their six children in the Bronx, with Leo working as a tool and die maker in NYC and Mount Vernon. In 1987 they moved to Pleasantville for the last 24 years of their lives together where they enjoyed their retirements, exploring the Hudson River Valley, spending time with family, and pursuing their passions.

Leo had a life-long thirst for learning. He enjoyed discussing current events with family and friends and was always curious about how things worked including the latest technology. He took up painting as a hobby in his 80’s, and after his beloved Patsy passed away he found comfort in the companionship of new and old friends alike.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Innocents Church, 431 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, on April 13th at 11:00 AM. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasantville Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the Town of Pleasantville/Clinton Street Senior Center.
