Obituary for Marie R. Kraft

Marie Rellstab Kraft passed away peacefully on May 12, 2018 surrounded by her family nine days shy of her 92nd Birthday. She lived a life full of passion and appreciation for everyone and everything that crossed her path. Her keen mind, caring personality and sense of humor charmed everyone she met. Marie was a “people person” in the truest sense.
Marie had no greater love than for her family, and also her many, many friends. She forged deep relationships with so many, being so very interested in each of their lives, and the lives of people they cared about. She loved the outdoors, music, driving anywhere, and she was the last to leave any party! Her vitality was contagious and a lesson for all she knew.
Marie grew up and lived most of her life in her beloved Westchester County, graduating New Rochelle High School in 1945. She worked most of her life, highlighted by serving as the Manager of the Mortgage Department at Scarsdale National Bank and working as a Salesperson at Creative Flooring in Mount Kisco for about 20 years, retiring at the age of 86.
Marie was predeceased by her husband J. George Kraft who passed away in 1986, her beloved parents, Frederick and Marie Rellstab, and her infant sister Nancy. She is survived by a large family who adored her: her three sisters, Joan, Virginia and Janice; her three sons and their wives – Robert and Susan, Richard and Cathy, and Howard and Gay; her seven grandchildren – Donny (and Lori), Jesse (and Lourdes), Laura, Andrea, Caitlin, Alex and Liam; her three great-grandchildren – Talia, Zenia and Tristan; and twelve nieces and nephews (and their children).
A memorial service in her honor is being planned for a later date. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or The Nature Conservancy.
