She Was A Gem by Erin Brennan Gutelius

                                                            HELEN

Always ready with a compliment for others

and sometimes a Lemon Meringue Pie or a Beef Wellington

She usually arrived armed ith a smile and a giggle and a New York Post and maybe a coffee from 7-11 after having played the numbers

SHE WAS A GEM

No gathering or party was complete without our favorite Close Up Talker.  "Is Aunt Helen coming?",  we would always say.

Once she arrived you could find her holding court with her purse by her side cueing up stories from the archives.

Stories that nobody could ever get enough of. -- TAKE THE BUS Jack

SHE WAS A GEM

Her heart was huge and her hair was great...I must say.  The hair was a great perch for her ever crooked glasses.

Watching Helen enjoy her food was enjoyable in itself.  She even thought the water was good, Forget about it, if you served her a Lobster with melted butter you were a friend for life  Think of her when you sit down to eat.

Helen was not dealt the easiest hand in life but boy did she Love life and Live life for sure.

What comes to mind when I think of her is compassionate nurse, proud mother and grandmaother, exceptional "aunt", cook extraordinare and a loyal and loving friend to many!!!

SHE WAS A GEM

I can hear Helen in Heaven...

The clouds are so fluffy here

I really do have a great view of all of you from above

God is so handsome, really he is. Right?

Helen if you have any trouble getting reservations in heaven don't forget to tell them you are Helen Hayes.....

Always worked at The Russian Tea Room and Sardi's

However in my book there was only one Helen Hayes and SHE WAS A GEM
