Obituary for Betty H Benjamin (Heilbrun)

Passed away on October 20, 2018, in Sleepy Hollow, NY, two weeks after celebrating her 97th birthday. Born in New York City, Betty graduated from Smith College and the Columbia School of Social Work. She was a psychiatric social worker at Westchester Jewish Community Services for 25 years and later in private practice. Betty was pre-deceased by her husband of 51 years, Roy Benjamin. Beloved mother of Nancy Benjamin (Herb Nolan), Kate Spector (Arnold), and Chip Benjamin (Laurie); devoted grandmother of Mark Nolan, Erin, Shelby, and Dina Spector, and David Benjamin; and proud great-grandmother of Lowell Nolan. She was a passionate supporter of progressive causes, enthusiastic world traveler, avid reader, and accomplished tennis player until age 90. Memorial service will be held at Kendal on Hudson in Sleepy Hollow on November 3rd at 2 pm. Donations in her memory may be made to Westchester Children’s Association.
