Obituary

It is with extreme sadness I take pen in hand and write of the passing of Steven James Mitchell at the age of 61. Steve lost his courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma on January 2, 2019 and peacefully went home with his family at his bedside.
Born in Wisbech, England the only child of James L. Mitchell of the US Air Force and Rosemary Lagana on March 12, 1957. At the age of 3, the family moved back to the United States and Steve lived on Air Force bases around the country until his early teens when he came to New York to live with his mother in Pleasantville. He attended and graduated Westlake High School and had a degree in Automotive Technology from Westchester Community College. He always loved cars and everybody knew him as the guy with the black Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. Others remembered seeing him daily walking his Husky named Castiel. Steve loved sports especially the New York Mets. He and his daughter would often go to games at Citified.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Louise Riveiro-Mitchell of Pleasantville, New York, their children Daniel (wife Ania) of Kent, New York, and Lara of Wappingers Falls, New York, his granddaughters Layla and ava Mitchell, his father James (wife Patricia) Mitchell of Cuba, Illinois, his mother Rosemary Lagana of Long Island, step brother Jeff (wife Julie) Mitchell of Lebanon, Ohio and their children Jared, Johnathan, and Jillian Mitchell.
Family will receive guests at the Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville, New York on January 5th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

Our deepest sympathy. Steve drove our wedding limo! We will miss him, always a smile, a hello, a wave. And we will miss seeing him walking with his dog.
