Obituary for Catherine "Kitty" Amodio
Catherine "Kitty" Mary Amodio of Somers, formerly of Hawthorne, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 14, 2019. She was born in the Bronx on July 10, 1924 to Augustine and Mary Mazzurco. On February 29, 1948 Kitty married Italo "Eddie" Amodio, and they enjoyed 67 wonderful years together.
Kitty was a devoted wife and mother whose greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. She loved nothing more than having everyone together for homemade Italian meals. While her biggest focus was always her family, she still made time to hold a variety of part time jobs. She was kind, thoughtful, and always willing to help others. Kitty was very artistic; she danced, painted, and sang on the radio.
Kitty is survived by her three loving children, Michael (Claire), Julie Prete, Edward; her four grandchildren, Matthew (Ben), Andrew (Lindsay), Kathryn, Corinne (Rick); and her three great-grandchildren, Gia, Max and Juliana. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Eddie and seven siblings.
The memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 16th at 11:00 am at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville, NY. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Catherine's name to Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
