Obituary for Joyce Ritell (Carney)
Joyce Marie (Carney) Ritell , born on January 5th, 1931,
passed away this Thursday July 11th, at Phelps Memorial Hospital
surrounded by family at her bedside. She was 88.
One of two girls, Joyce was born a Carney on Mace Avenue in The Bronx, NY.
She began a career at Equitable Life Insurance after which Joyce married Henry Ritell and they partnered a business lasting over 40 years, which Henry and sons still maintain today . She loved creating and spending memorable moments with family and friends, she enjoyed travel, bowling, playing games and dancing. Literally attached at the hip, Joyce and Henry danced through life, able to “cut a rug” with the best of the best.
Joyce Is survived by her loving husband of 68 adventurous years, Henry Ritell, her 5 sons, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Family, friends and others whose lives Joyce has touched are invited to the BEECHER FLOOKS FUNERAL HOME, 418 Bedford Rd,Pleasantville, NY from 2-4pm & 7-9pm on Sunday July 14th. To reminisce, grieve and support one another. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Theresa’s R.C. Church in Briarcliff Manor. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
