As a former student of “Dr. D” I have many memories. The way she would brag about her nieces and nephews and how she would refer to herself in the third person. Especially her strong Italian accent and way of letting you know what she meant and meaning exactly what she said. I appreciated the way she advocated for students, and when it came down to anatomy, she made sure you understood the different between “dumps in to and tributary to”. I used to call her ma’am out of respect and she would always remind me that she was old enough to correct me but not old enough to be called ma’am. While I am saddened by her transition, I believe that her love will live on in the hearts of those she cherished.
