Mary Boguslawski

THOMASTON — Mary (Christophy) Boguslawski, also of Cape Coral, Fla., died peacefully on Feb. 25, 2014, in her 90th year while in the care of the Hawthorne Dominican Sisters of rosary Hill Home, Hawthorne, N.Y.

Mary was predeceased in 1989 by her husband of 47 years, Henry P. Boguslawski Sr., also of Thomaston. She is survived by her siblings, Alex (Jessie) Christophy of Thomaston, and Dorothy Nold of Winter Park, Fla. She is also survived by her children, Judith and Ora Currier Sr. of Thomaston, Henry and Cheryl Boguslawski of Cape Coral, Fla., Patricia Lockwood (wife of the late Brian Lockwood) of Thomaston, and the Rev. Fr. Steven Chrysostom Boguslawski O.P., presently a Visiting Fellow at Yale University, as well as nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

For the last 15 years, Mary traveled between her residences in Thomaston and Cape Coral where she was lovingly cared for by her children and their families. For the last four months, Mary resided at rosary Hill Home with the Dominican Sisters of the Congregation of Saint Rose of Lima, founded by the Servant of God, Rose Hawthorne (Mother Mary Alphonsa, O.P.).

Until the past year, Mary enjoyed regular travels abroad; on two occasions she met in private audience with the Holy Father, Blessed Pope John Paul II. Throughout her life, Mary was an avid gardener. She always had a ready smile, gentle demeanor, and deep love for her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:15 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Ave., Thornwood, N.Y. A brief viewing at 9 a.m. will precede the funeral Mass. A memorial Mass at St. Thomas Church, Thomaston, followed by interment at St. Thomas Cemetery, will occur in late spring.
