Obituary for Margaret M. Borelli (Greco)

Margaret Borelli, 95, of Pleasantville, N.Y. passed away Thursday morning, February 26 at home. She was born in Pleasantville, May 8, 1919, the 8th of ten children of Frances and Angelo Greco. Predeceased by her husband, John, who passed away on April 3, 1990, she is survived by her children Carol Kelly (John) and Jack Borelli (Anne-Marie), as well as six grandchildren, John, Diane, Pamela, Catherine, John and Marisa. She was blessed to have five great-grandchildren, Colin, Alexandra, Jillian, Addison and Liam. And is also survived by her sister, Frances Bufo and sister-in-law Sarah Christello.

Margaret attended St. Mary's Catholic High School for two years and then graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1937. After marrying in 1940 she started her career at Reader's Digest which spanned 39 years. She and her family moved to Briarcliff Manor in 1954, where they became active members of St. Theresa's Church. She was also a member of the Parish Council and served as President for two years. She also donated her time to the church in many different ways. She was an active member of the Briarcliff Seniors, serving as President for several years. In 2000 Margaret moved back to Pleasantville to live with her daughter and family. Among her other contributions to society, she was an avid knitter of hats for babies and soldiers at the Clinton Center. She also volunteered her time at Phelps Memorial Hospital for 18 years. She loved her family most of all but also enjoyed ceramics, volunteering at a soup kitchen and was the most devoted NY Yankee (Derek Jeter!!) fan.

Margaret's life will be honored in a Funeral Mass at Holy Innocent's Catholic Church on Monday, March 2 at 10 AM. Visiting hours are at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville from 4-8 on Sunday, 3/1.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested any donations to be made to the Pleasantville Interfaith Food Pantry, c/o Holy Innocent's Church.
