Thomas H. Buffum, age 60, of Hawthorne, NY, died suddenly in Florida on Sunday, March 15.
He was born March 22, 1954 to Gertrude and Thomas Buffum and is survived by two sisters, Christine Tananone of Thailand and Susan Buffum of Chatham, NJ. He treasured his times spent with his sisters and nieces and nephews. He lived in Cranston, RI for the first 41 years of his life. In 1981, he married Debbie Nuttall in RI and they have two children, Peter and Emily. He attended Hartwick College in NY then joined the family business, John F Allen & Son Inc. in Providence, RI. Eventually, the company acquired Pulver Importing and he became a co-owner, moving to New York in 1995 to manage that part of the business.
Tom was very active in his church where he was the Chairman of the Administrative Board and enjoyed singing in the choir. Golf was a passion of his. He was a longtime member of Pleasantville Country Club and also recently of Hollowbrook CC.
He was a loving husband and proud father and his enthusiasm for life will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends on Friday, 3 – 7 PM at the Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, 418 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, New York. A Church service will be celebrated on Saturday, 11 AM at the Valhalla Methodist Church, 200 Columbus Ave, Valhalla, NY.
