Obituary for Barbara M. Kearney (Moran)

On Friday, June 9, 2017 Barbara Moran Kearney died peacefully at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center after a long illness. She was 83. Barbara was a native of Poughkeepsie and a graduate of Marist College. After graduation, Barbara began a teaching career which spanned over 25 years. During those 25 years, she taught at Holy Trinity in Poughkeepsie and Regina Coeli in Hyde Park. Barbara was a cherished teacher and instilled in her students her life-long love of learning. She retired in 1997. After her retirement, she and her loving husband of 61 years relocated to New Bern, North Carolina.

Barbara is survived by her son Thomas Kearney of San Francisco, her daughter Kate Kearney of Austin, Texas, three grandchildren, and her son The Reverend Daniel Kearney of New York City.

A funeral Mass was celebrated by her son on Tuesday, June 13th at Ascension Church in Manhattan. A Memorial Mass with her cremains will be celebrated at Ascension Church in Manhattan on Monday, July 24th at 10 AM. Burial will be at convenience of the family.
