Rambo

We will all have special stories about Doug. As husband, father, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, cousin, friend -our own special memories will remain in our hearts and bring us consolation not only in this very difficult time of doing our good-byes but in years to come. I called Doug my Rambo. He was the hardest worker I have ever seen. Once he started a job, he just didn't quit till the job was done. I had heard stories how he, Dan and Steve put in a sprinkler system at the beach house, but I got to see first hand how Doug' s work ethic shined through as we painted the beach house after Huricain Sandy. Doug was up early and rolling away with a paint roller on the ceilings. Yep, as you had guessed, he wore a red bandanna across his forehead---hence the nickname "Rambo" "Hey Deb, it's white -on -white, did I miss any spots?" We all had our special jpainting jobs for the day. At the end of the day, I was getting tired and really did't want to paint the banister. I told Doug I felt dizzy. His reply, " Don't worry, Deb, I'll finish the banister. " And he did without a complaint. I confessed this to Doug Iin the hospital and with a big smile on his face he said he would've forgive me. We both laughed. Even in his time of great suffering , Doug maintained his sense of humor, and his love and loyalty for his ffamily . Doug was my Rambo. His courage over the last months should be an inspiration for all.
