too soon

i was in 8th grade when Francis/Fran/Frank was born, named for Paternal Grandfather, Francis Prial.  I was always excited when a "new baby" came into the house & found it amusing when i would have any younger brothes out with me and got looks from the "biddies", thinking they were my kids.  Remember vividly mom saying that the MD didnt think Fran would survive the meningitis,,,the same MD who dismissed a mother's concerns about her very irritable 3 month old baby.  He survived,,,,,a happy-go-lucky kid,,,loved building,,thought he was gonna be an architect,,,,loved taking them trick-or-treating,,,,watching them at Christmastime,,other "kid" things.  Due to the meningitis, academics were a challenge,,,not helped by his principal, and some teachers, who belittled him and called him stupid.  One teacher though, endeared herself to my parents when she stated that "he has an intelligence that is not reflected in these grades".  yes, school was hard and miserable at times..but he kept his spirits up,,,,,loving music,,,,games,,,,.thankfully things have changed now......had a large paper route, bought his first car with his money,,,,,after the untimely passing of our dad (on his 19th birthday) he gave up his dreams to run dad's business, and ran it well for over 10 yrs......mom was very happy when the business was sold and he could have some time off,,,,,he loved to travel,,,spend time with family and friends,,,,He received another challenge in his early 20's with a diagnosis of Wegners Granulomatosis,,,,,He could have easily given up,,,,but he didnt....He was an Uncle, Dad, Brother & Friend to my daughter Elizabeth,,,and was always there for her,,,,,,,he brought me flowers for mothers day,,,,birthday cakes,,,lent me his car,,,,was always there for us,,,,,if he was in pain,,,we didnt know it...As happens with siblings, we didnt always get along,,no family is perfect....,but we did love each other....One was hesitant to mention if you needed anything,,,he would be at your door the next day.....In my opinion, his challenges were his purgatory here on earth........i will miss you intensely Fran,,,,,love you,,,,,,keep watch over us........
