Tierney Spaghetti

Jimmy and I grew up together on May Street and attended St. Gabriel grammar school, where we played on their CYO basketball team. Jimmy was the star and leader of our 8th grade team. I was invited one evening to the Tierney home for spaghetti dinner. When I arrived at their home, I was surprised to see Mr. Tierney in the kitchen cooking dinner. I went into the kitchen to say hello, and I'll never forget what he said to me. Mr. Tierney said that after I tasted his spaghetti, I'd being throwing rocks at the Italians. Well, his spaghetti was delicious! I have many fond memories of visiting the Tierney home. We were always welcome and always well treated. There was always a good time to be had. Jimmy was also famous for what we called the "Jimmy Tierney catch." He had an uncanny ability to snag a pass out of the air with one hand and make the reception. He was quite an athlete. My deepest condolences go out to the entire Tierney family.
